Presto classical, 2019-08-31
"Editor's choices - August 2019: Ibragimova and Tiberghien exhibit a similar instinctive empathy to Moser and Beatson on their latest collaboration on Hyperion, applying the low-cholesterol approach which made their Franck Sonata earlier this year such a winner to the Brahms sonatas: clarity and transparency are the orders of the day here, with vibrato, portamenti and rubato kept to a minimum, but nothing feels undernourished or underseasoned in these illuminating, immensely invigorating performances"

BBC music magazine, 2019 November
"Alina Ibragimova is perfectly capable of a forceful gutsiness as she demonstrates here in some of Brahms's more agitated development sections. But she is also a period-sensitive performer, and in seeking to realise Brahms's frequent markings of 'dolce' and 'mezza voce' she often fines down her sound to an almost vibrato-less whisper. Tiberghien plays with all his usual sensitivity ... For some ears, the intermittent disparity may alloy what, in all other respects, are distinguished readings"
The gramophone, 2019 October
"Alina Ibragimova's quiet playing is perhaps the most arresting feature of these performances, especially as she and Cédric Tiberghien are extremely attentive to the preponderance of 'piano' and 'pianissimo' markings int all three of Brahms's violin sonatas ... There are marvellous moments and entire movements that make this beautifully recorded disc worth hearing ... thanks in large part to Tiberghien's feather-light touch. Indeed, the pianist's playing is captivating throughout, his 'pianissimos' just as breathtaking as his partner's"
