"Sproatly Smith hail from the rural county of Weirdshire, somewhere in imaginary England. A place where time is fluid and landmarks on the musical landscape tend to move about unexpectedly ... The Smith family are a friendly bunch of natives, whose siren singing beguiles over dexterous and expressive guitar picking, glockenspiel plinky-plonking, calliope whistling, wordless chanting, musical sawing and vintage synthewooshing ... In truth, "11:59" is a stop-gap release, comprised of tracks that have previously appeared on compilations (...) alongside some new recordings. Still, there's more fun to be had from a Sproatly Smith bits-and-bobs album than most folks' records, and with original new material like "Scapa Flow", Sproatly Smith proves they're much more than just skilled collagers of found sounds and bygone eras"

"From the debut album, I was hooked by Sproatly Smith's marvellous use of folk, melody, weird (and normal) instrumentation, and general application of sounds, recordings and synths. This new album is a little more quiet than earlier ones, dare I say it even ambient in places, but it is certainly up there with all the good ones. A super addition to the Weirdshire canon, and available on CD from the band's colourful Bandcamp home"
